Russian silver cigarette case or box with Art Nouveau cloisonne floral and scroll decoration on a rectangular hinged silver case with rounded corners. Stamped on both sides with kokoshnik mark for .875 fineness and 20A for the 20th Artel, a cooperative of master craftsmen working Moscow, c. 1908-1917. 4" H x 2 3/4" W.

1st item: English George III mahogany bombe form tea caddy on bracket feet with gilt brass rocaille handle to lid and foliate escutcheon to body, opens to fabric-lined lid and fitted interior containing three tin tea containers with round or domed lids. 6 3/4" H x 10 1/8" W x 6 3/8" D. 2nd item: French satin or fruitwood Palais Royal style trinket box with burlwood bands; brass hinge handle, escutcheon, and bracket feet; and floral paper-lined interior. 3 1/4" H x 6 1/4" W x 4 1/2" D. 3rd item: Georgian satinwood rectangular box with inlaid oval burlwood reserves and exotic, possibly zebrawood, crossbanding; the lid with brass bail handle, opening to a green velvet-lined interior with removable shallow insert. 7 1/8" H x 9 1/4" W x 5 1/2" D. Two (2) English mahogany containers. 1st item: Regency style sarcophagus form tea caddy on bun feet with brass escutcheon and hardware containing central cut glass footed vase flanked by two removable mahogany caddies with hinged lids. 7 7/8" H x 13" W x 6 1/2" D. 2nd item: Queen Anne style box with brass escutcheon, top handle, and hardware. 5 1/2" H x 9 1/4" W x 5 3/4" D. European mahogany tantalus or cave a liqueur set, ebonized exterior with gilt brass-bordered, cut glass panes on bun feet having double-hinged top. Opens to a removable fitted compartment with gilt brass hardware in two levels having etched designs containing a twelve (12) piece glass barware set with four (4) decanters and eight (8) cordials. Retains key marked "Taylor" and "658". 11 7/8" H x 13 5/8" W x 10 3/8" D. Late 19th/early 20th century.

Seven (7) decorative accessories, including a gilt-mounted horn cornucopia, miniature paintings, quill boxes, and a miniature grandfather clock. 1st item: Gilt-mounted horn cornucopia with foliate and lion mask hardware raised upon a tiered, round base with lamb's tongue rim. 20 3/8" H x 18 1/2" W x 6 5/8" D. Continental, 19th century. 2nd item: Portrait miniature on metal after Ferdinand Bol (Netherlands, 1616-1680) Portrait of Elisabeth Bas originally executed in the 1640s with subject depicted seated wearing an embroidered green dress with large round white collar and white Dutch bonnet holding a lace handkerchief. Unframed. 5 3/8" H x 3 5/8" W. Continental, 19th century. Note: Elisabeth Bas was a prominent Dutch businesswoman whose portrait by Bol was commissioned by her granddaughter Maria Rey. The original is held within the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam collection. 3rd item: Miniature watercolor on paper painting depicting three couples and another woman in early 19th-century dress upon a sunny street with well-manicured trees and building facades in the background beneath a blue sky. 1st item: Pierre Jules (P.J.) Mene (France, 1810-1879) patinated bronze lidded urn or game trophy with high relief and figural decoration including a helmeted falcon finial atop the lid together with game and fish forms; two naturalistic branch handles; central body with forest scenes of hounds hunting game animals; a snake attacking a bird's nest to stem; and bramble-form base. Signed "PJ MENE" to lower edge of body by fox's paws. Partially legible stamp to lower edge of body below stag's hooves, possibly Barbediene. 15" H x 8 1/4" W x 5 1/2" D. 19th century. 2nd-3rd items: Pair (2) European Black Forest style bronze candlesticks with gilt bronze bobeche, base, and squirrels perched atop patinated bronze branch-form stem. 7 3/8" H x 3" square. Pair of Napoleon III gilt bronze seven light candelabras in the manner of Alfred Emmanuel Louis Beurdeley (1818-1895.) The candelabras rest on a footed tripartite base and are adorned with finely cast upright scrolls and foliate-wrapped spirally turned branches. Various castings are stamped with a "C" as shown. 22 3/4" H x 11 1/2" W. 19th century.

CONDITION: Both overall very good condition with two replaced bobeches later cast to imitate the originals. One is missing a bobeche. One has some looseness to center. [See more photos →]

Pair of French Neoclassical gilt bronze mounted white Carrara marble candelabra with three flowering branch arms and central finial having rose form bobeches, marble bases mounted with floral swags and three hooved legs having satyr masks, all atop circular bases with three toupie feet. Both approximately 16" H x 7 3/74" dia. Late 19th century.

CONDITION: Both items with minor scattered wear to gilt, hooved leg mountings slightly loose, and detached gilt metal bead course element on bases. One with two minor chips to marble base, largest measuring 3/8" x 1/4". The other with bend to one flowering branch arm. [See more photos →]

Ansonia "Summer and Winter" figural clock, 8-day time and strike movement with two part signed porcelain dial having Roman numerals and visible escapement. Cast Spelter case with two figures emblematic of Summer and Winter flank the dial above a bronze plaque and faux malachite plinth atop a gilt metal mounted ebonized base. Brass 8-day movement and dial signed Ansonia Clock Co. 22" H x 23" W x 8" D. American, late 19th century.

Two (2) Tiffany Studios bronze items including one (1) Art Nouveau candlestick with root-form tripod legs and slender stem topped with three arms supporting a hanging pot with separate bobeche, stamped "Tiffany Studios/ New York" and code "1200" to underside, and one (1) Art Deco style letter opener in the Adams pattern, stamped "Tiffany Studios/ New York" and "1780" to underside of handle. Candlestick- 12 1/4" H x 5" W x 5" D. Letter opener- 9" H x 1" W. Both items early 20th century.

Austrian Art Nouveau amphora bronze vase, possibly designed by Gustav Gurschner (Austria, 1873-1970), marked for the K.K. Kunst Erzgiesserei Vienna foundry and retailer Tiffany & Company, with undulating floral forms, scalloped rim, and two foliate handles. 9 3/4" H x approx. 7 1/4" dia. Circa 1915-1920.

CONDITION: Minute surface scratches to inner rim. Some abrasion to underside. Otherwise overall very good condition. [See more photos →]

Two (2) Middle Tennessee split white oak buttocks baskets by Cannon County makers – one by Ida Pearl Davis (1921-2007) and her daughter Thelma Davis Hibdon (b. 1942), and the other by Gertie Haley (20th c.). 1st item: One (1) "1/2 Gallon" basket with original sales tag from Ida Davis and Thelma Davis, additionally signed under handle and dated 1989. 11"H x 11"W x 12"D. 2nd item: One (1) basket signed by Gertie Haley under handle and dated 1990, having a horizontally woven rim. 12"H x 11"W x 11 1/2"D.

CONDITION: Couple of minor frayed weavers and loose ends on Haley basket, otherwise both baskets in very good condition. [See more photos →]

President Andrew Jackson "Old Hickory" War of 1812 commemorative oval pasteboard or cardboard hat box, covered with colorful woodblock printed wallpaper. The lid depicts a landscape scene with figure on horseback crossing a bridge leading to a log cabin, possibly the "First Hermitage" where General Jackson resided until his still-extant mansion, also known as The Hermitage, was completed. The sides depict General Andrew Jackson attired in uniform, standing by his horse and holding a sword, with a town (likely New Orleans) and tents in the background, and banners reading "Old Hickory" to three sides. The underside of lid retains a merchant label reading "John van Steenburgh/ No. 35 Roosevelt Street/ Corner of Bancker Street/ New York/ Makes and Sells all kinds of Paper Boxes, Wholesale and Retail, N. B. Boxes Made in Nests for Exportation". 11" H x 16 1/2" W x 12 1/2" D. Circa 1820-1845. Note: General Andrew Jackson earned his nickname "Old Hickory," as well as nationwide fame, and laid the groundwork for a future successful presidential bid, with his War of 1812 Victory at the Battle of New Orleans. His likeness soon became widespread through prints and other commemorative objects, but most of the objects were ephemeral and few have survived. Two other examples of this box are documented including one example in the book "Hat Boxes and Bandboxes at Shelburne Museum" by Lilian Baker Carlisle, pgs. 190-191. The other example is at the The Historic New Orleans Collection (item# 2012.0405.2) whose catalog attributes theirs to circa 1820-1845, and notes: "Inexpensive pasteboard boxes for the storage of household articles were common features of mid-nineteenth-century American closets. They were often covered with colorful printed paper, and some designs commemorated popular political figures such as presidents Andrew Jackson and William Henry Harrison."

CONDITION: Overall good condition. Wear, grime, water spotting, and losses to the perimeter of the lid with minor use wear and scattered losses to paper on the sides and lower edge, slight bowing. The base with a separation to the side seam on one long side. Errant pencil inscriptions to the top and base. [See more photos →]

1st item: America folk art walnut rectangular form box having a paneled and hinged top with reverse painted black and white glass panels to body, including a landscape with log farmhouse, portrait medallions of George Washington and John Hancock, and a jockey on horseback. 6 1/2" H x 13" W x 9" D. Late 19th century. 2nd-3rd items: Two (2) leather or hide-covered boxes with brass tack decoration and hardware, including one (1) dome top miniature trunk form with brass handle and hasp lock to lid, brass escutcheon plate, and banded decoration throughout (6 1/2" H x 9 5/8" W x 6 5/8" D); and one (1) rectangular form box with brass ring handle to lid and escutcheon having accent-colored hide to front, inscriptions to inner lid, "Lord Bill Hanson 1820", and to underside, "Lord Belhamm 1782 / R.E.L. 1912" (6" H x 12 1/4" W x 7" D). A W to top of lid, interior of lid with ribbon holder and old handwritten label inscribed, "this trunk was made by my father G. W. Weller for his sister Lucyann whe she was 10 years old, consequently is 78 years old. H. W. Paul". Retains key. 8 1/4" H x 15 1/4" W x 8 1/2" D. Herter Brothers Aesthetic movement inlaid and carved easel, with primary woods of rosewood and mahogany, stamped underside of lower base (see photos). Shell carved top with gilt highlights over a scrolled frieze with ebony inset panel and light wood inlaid opposing winged griffins and foliate designs, over a long rectangular ebony inset panel with floral and foliate designs, easel with gilt incised designs and lower gilt inset bellflowers at base of easel support, center brass track with latches to secure art work. Easel frame base with an elaborate "sawtooth" inlay design around the perimeter. Easel frame rests on a brass and metal swivel connecting to the lower base. Lower base with incised gilt aesthetic movement designs and acorn drops to each corner and centers of apron with shell carving and gilt highlights. Trestle base with center turned column support and feet with shaped brackets having center brace with ebony panel inset with leaf and flower inlay. Four turret turned feet topped with incised gilt turnip finials. 76 1/2" H x 25 1/2" x 22 1/4" D. Adjustable track to secure artwork measuring 42" L. American, Herter Brothers, circa 1880.

English Regency rosewood mother of pearl inlaid ladies compendium or jewelry box; sarcophagus form with reeded edges, two loop handles, and foliate inlay. Hinged lid opens to red paper and fabric-lined compartments; two front doors with gilt mandala and foliate designs to the interior enclose two fabric-lined partitioned drawers over one lap desk drawer comprised of sloped lid with leather insert, four compartments containing two silver-lidded glass inkwells, and felt-lined writing slope that opens to paper storage. 13" H x 13" W x 9" D. Second quarter of the 19th century.

1st item: Burlwood sewing box with classical mythological scene of Diana and putti painted to interior of lid; removable tray with various compartments, some with star inlaid lids, one inlaid hinged needle cushion, and one thread spool holder; tray lifts to reveal secondary bisected tray that conceals four drawers with thread pulls. 4" H x 13 1/2" W x 10" D. 2nd item: Ladies mahogany or rosewood toiletry or dresser box with mother or pearl shield inlays, opens to blue velvet-lined, partitioned interior containing two glass perfume bottles with stoppers and one removable tray with various compartments having velvet lids or silver lidded glass containers; additional concealed drawer beneath. 6 3/4" H x 11 7/8" W x 9 7/8" D. Continental gothic-style stained glass window, rectangular form, depicting an execution scene, possibly the beheading of Saint James the Great or Saint John the Baptist, in an interior castle scene surrounded by Renaissance architectural details and a guard in the background, featuring colors of red, yellow, blue, green, and clear glass. Housed in a simple wood frame. Sight: 23 1/4" H x 26" W. Framed: 25" H x 27 1/2" W. Likely French, 19th century or earlier.

CONDITION: One pane with separation, possible re-soldering to joint. Some hand painted coloring on one side. Light surface wear. Frame is fragile and in need of replacement. [See more photos →]

Eleven (11) German black forest roe deer antler trophies, all affixed to white-painted mounts. 1st-5th items: Five (5) trophies inscribed for Georg Otto Busse, en verso of diamond-shaped mounts with additional inscriptions, including one (1) dated "5 August 1863" with illegible location, one (1) dated "12 Aug. 87." with partially legible location "Nienbargen… (Rolgrie…)"; two (2) dated "1903-1915" with location "Diensthoop" [a district of Rotenburg]; and one (1) with illegible numbering. 6th-11th items: Six (6) trophies on shield-form mounts, including one (1) with illegible inscription, en verso; three (3) on mounts carved with foliate wreaths; and two (2) additional mounts. All items ranging in size from 6" H x 4 5/8" W x 4 7/8" D to 14 1/2" H x 6 1/2" W x 6 3/4" D. All items late 19th/early 20th century.

CONDITION: All in overall good condition. Some slightly loose on their mounts. Mounts have contemporary paint. One on mount with foliate wreath with scattered errant green paint. [See more photos →]

Pair (2) of Italian gilt carved rectangular mirrors with carved floral and fruit-carved urn openwork crests, fruit and leaf carved sides, and floral and fruit carved urn bases. Paper labels en verso reading "Made in Italy for Meredith Gall." 55 1/4" H x 32 1/2" W. 20th century.

Italian Baroque Style giltwood double frame beveled mirror. Rectangular form consisting of two carved gilt borders joined by gilt-carved scrolled acanthus leaves and surmounted by a scrolled crest with central carved shell flanked by foliate-topped lattice decoration with additional scrolled foliate decoration to the sides. 49" H x 38" W x approx. 7" D. Late 19th/early 20th century.

Set of four (4) matching Continental Rococo style gilt girandole mirrors with C-scroll and foliate decoration throughout, each having a pierced crest with molded shell and rosette motifs, wing form decorations to each side, and base with two protruding candle arms topped with blooming flower bobeches. Each 38" H x 23" W x 5 1/2" D. All late 19th/early 20th century.

PROVENANCE: The collection of the late Fount and Ida Smothers, Thompson's Station, Tennessee.

CONDITION: Significant loss to wing of one mirror. Each with scattered minor losses to carving and gilding. Candle arms are likely added later. One mirror with replaced glass. [See more photos →]

Continental Maria Teresa style 24-light tiered cut crystal chandelier consisting of four (4) total tiers, including two (2) upper tiers of scrolled arms above two (2) rows of scrolled light arms, all fitted with kite and French pendelouque prisms and draped with garlands of small octagonal prisms. Dimensions: 54" H x 46" W x 46" D. 20th century.

CONDITION: Very good condition. Wiring is older, has not been tested, and is not guaranteed. Some crystals appear to be replacements. [See more photos →]

Rococo style gilt bronze chandelier with scrolling foliate decoration throughout and fifteen (15) candle arms branching from the center terminating with conforming bobeches. 34" H x 24" W x 24" D. French, late 19th century.

CONDITION: Scattered verdigris oxidation, some minute bending to faux candle lighting fixtures, otherwise in very good condition. Chandelier has been wired, not tested for functionality. [See more photos →]

Pair of French Neoclassical style parcel gilt lamps, consisting of circular gilt bronze columns decorated with raised Classical figures, atop female busts and round gilt bronze pedestals atop black patinated reeded plinths. Originally gas lamps, now converted. "F. Barbediene Fondeur" impressed on back of busts along with the foundry stamp. Bases: 21" H. 32 1/4" total H. Late 19th century.

CONDITION: Overall good condition with expected use wear. Abrasion to chest of one bust. These were originally gas lamps and retain the original gas fittings. They have been converted to electric and are functioning at time of inspection. [See more photos →]

Pair of Sevres style Neoclassical gilt bronze mounted porcelain vasiform urns decorated with cherub and floral vignettes on a celeste blue ground and foliate handles, formerly oil burning lamps converted to electric, fitted with foliate bronze caps and pierced bronze platform bases. 17" H (with cap & base). 33 1/2" total H. Aesthetic Movement porcelain urn-shaped vase, painted in the Japanese taste by Charles Labarre, now wired as a lamp.
