Case Antiques Inc. Auctions & Appraisals is proud to sponsor the 2nd Annual Tennessee Decorative Arts Symposium, to be held Saturday, April 9 at Belmont Mansion in Nashville.
This year’s symposium, “The People’s Present from the Past,” will feature guest speakers highlighting specific examples and recent discoveries addressing the stylistic changes in the decorative arts of Tennessee and their origins. It will also address the ever-growing interest in the decorative arts of Tennessee and encourage the sharing of ideas and information.
“The market for Tennessee regional art and antiques is very strong right now, and the more people research and understand these objects, the more we expect that trend to continue,” said Sarah Campbell Drury, ISA AM*, who heads Case’s office in Nashville. “The lineup of speakers is excellent, and we are thrilled to support this symposium for the second year in a row.”
Speakers this year include, with their subject title: Steve Brown, Early Tennessee Migration; Michael Gavin, Early Tennessee Interiors; Robert Hicks, Tennessee Maps; Suzanne McDowell, Regional Textiles; Tracey Parks, Tennessee Furniture; and Samuel Smith and Steve Rogers, Tennessee Pottery.
The registration fee of $125 includes a VIP reception to be held at the home of one of the area’s recognized Tennessee collectors Friday evening, April 8, and lunch on Saturday . Tickets for symposium and lunch only are $100. Pre-registration is strongly suggested. To learn more, visit www.belmontmansion.com or call 615-460-5459.
