Native American, possibly Sioux, full-beaded moccasins. White ground with beaded geometric designs in red, orange, green and blue and beaded tongues with feather and metal accents, parfleche soles. 11" L. Late 19th/early 20th century. Provenance: Property from the estate of Dorothy Louise Luhrs, PhD, (1910-1972), Archaeologist with University of New Mexico/School of American Research Field School, whose studies and research included the Una Via Chaco Canyon, NM, Largo Canyon, NM, Guatemala, Mexico, and the Hoopa Indian Reservation in northern California. Luhrs was also president of the Southwestern Anthropological Association from 1950-51. Condition: Appropriate aging and discoloration, with slight loss to beads. Cotton eroded at shoe opening.
