Pair of antique polychromed wood panels with Chinoiserie decorations of a woman with parasol and man trying to catch a phoenix. Both with silk fabric backing and enclosed in a ribbon molded giltwood frame. 49-1/2" x 19-1/2" overall. Italian, 19th century. Condition: Panels were formerly part of a screen and have shadow lines on sides from old hinges. Both exhibit some wear and paint peeling, largest is a 2" L-shaped section of paint loss on the panel with the female figure. Some light stains to silk backing and wear to frames.
