Pair of Continental silver or silverplated lamps, possibly converted from altar lamps in the Gothic style. Pierced shafts with architectural, turret form capitals having trefoil "windows". Mounted on red marble bases with scalloped edges. Each lamp has three bulb sockets with chain pulls and is topped by a round, marble-grained wooden finial. Each lamp hallmarked with lion rampant in shield and second, illegible mark. Condition: some chips to marble bases, scattered small losses to silver filigree, overall good condition with old cords. 33" height. Probably Dutch or Hanau, late 19th to early 20th century.
