Sharps New Model 1859 Carbine, .52 caliber, serial #68287 on tang. Iron mounts and patchbox, walnut stock, barrel marked "New Model 1859", the left side of the receiver marked "C. SHARPS' PAT SEPT. 12TH 1848", the right side with "C. SHARPS' PAT OCT 5TH 1852 R. S. LAWRENCE PAT. APRIL 12TH 1859". Additional identification marks include "AHK" on swivel mount, "GC" on left side of barrel breech. 22" barrel length. Circa 1859-1866. Condition: Overall very good condition with varnish remaining on patinated stock. Fore stock with a tight hairline. Bore clean. Barrel with a brown patina with evidence of minor pitting near midsection and end. Possible rebluing on receiver. Mechanical functionality excellent.
