Pair of Southern campeche chairs, possibly Louisiana, mahogany frame with walnut stretchers mahogany and rosewood veneers on front strechers, arms, and half-circle crests. 37 1/2" H x 24 1/4" W x 27 D. Mid 19th century. Provenance: Collection of Grace Tankersley, Knoxville, TN . Condition: Refinished with later upholstery. First chair shows slight separation at frame on the left side. Second chair has minor repairs to the veneer on the front cross stretcher. Secondary wood used on the upholstery frame could not be determined.
