Important Tennessee sugar and cream pitcher marked "J. Reed" (James Reed, Murfreesboro, TN – Rutherford County, active 1832-1850). The mark on these pieces can be viewed in Caldwell’s Tennessee Silversmiths, p. 142, illustration 108. This earlier mark would be attributed to the 1830-1840 period. Both pieces with bulbous vertical reeding, monograms on midsection. Condition – very good condition. The sugar has had minor repair where the top of the handles attach to the rim. Sugar 9" height, cream pitcher 7 1/4" height. Circa 1835.
