Two Tennessee Governor signed documents including a Civil War era letter written by Governor Isham Harris and land grant signed by Governor W. B. Campbell. 1ST ITEM: Civil War Confederate letter written by Tennessee Governor, Isham Harris, Richmond, Virginia, March 3rd, 1865. Letter begins, "I hereby Certify that The exemption of a quoram of the County Court of Sullivan County Tennessee is necessary to be exempt from Confederate Military Service, . . ." signed Isham G. Harris, Gov. of Tennessee. Additional paragraph, "Not having the record before me it is impossible for me to certify for each justice by name. IGH" (Isham G. Harris). Condition: letter folded in six sections with creases. Circa 1865. 2ND ITEM: Tennessee land grant dated May 1845 to William Blevins, signed by the governor W B Campbell (June 8, 1853), and additionally signed by the Secretary to the Governor. Overall very good condition with fold lines and some brown spots to title area of document.
