Early purple plastic American Express credit card belonging to Charles F. Lewis of Knoxville Tennessee. The card expired in April of 1960. 2-1/8" H x 3-3/8" W. American Express first began issuing credit cards in 1958. This card is an example of the second issue in a plastic style with an embossed expiration date in the lower right of the card. This style of card would have been eventually replaced by the iconic green colored card. Condition: Excellent condition
