Federal inlaid cherry card table, demilune folding top with string inlay around the edge, over a frieze with figured veneer and string inlay at the molded edge below, four square turned and tapered legs with one additional swing leg in back to support the unfolded top and make a circular table for games or tea. Attr. Middle Tennessee. 30 1/4" H x 35" W x 17 1/8" D. Provenance: the estate of Sarah Hunter Hicks Green, formerly of Historic Devon Farm, Nashville, Tennessee. CONDITION: Significant restoration and repair, half round top attached to base likely replaced as well as the rear apron member of the table. Some veneer splitting and separations affecting the frieze, original hinges but some replaced screws, wood split at top of rear right leg, full splits to both leaves, scattered areas of missing inlay.
