Chinese Qing Dynasty rosewood dressing box with engraved butterfly-form steel hinges, three sides inset with carved, painted, and gilded figural scenes. Hinged top folds open to reveal original mirror. 7"h x 9"w x 12"d. Late 19th/Early 20th century. Provenance: Estate of Mrs. Mary Ann Bowers Thomas, Athens, Alabama. CONDITION: Small (1"L) loss to underside of front edge, some minor loss of silvering to edges of mirror, front clasp broken off but retained.
