Large and elaborate pair of Chinese carved and inked ivory figures depicting a female and male immortal atop phoenix birds. Each carved from a single curved tusk with detailed carving of the bird plumage and standing on carved rock and flowering chrysanthemum bases. Both mounted on carved hardwood bases. Female measures 18 5/8" H without stand and 20 3/8" with stand. Male measures 19" without stand and 20 3/4" with stand. Acquired at TN auction by consignor's father during the 1960s.
