Group of six (6) hand-made bed coverings. 1st item: Southern, likely TN, pieced cotton quilt, Drunkard's Path pattern, red and blue fabric with white backing, 5 1/2" red border at top and bottom. 67" x 89". Early 20th century. 2nd item: East TN pieced and appliqued cotton quilt, nine patch checkerboard pattern, white ground with pink appliqued squares, machine quilted white cotton chin guard on top and bottom. 60" x 77". Late 19th century. 3rd item: East TN pieced and appliqued cotton quilt, crown of thorns variant pattern, white ground with predominant colors of red, white and cadet blue, outer border of blue. 74" x 76 1/2". Late 19th century. 4th item: East TN pieced and appliqued cotton quilt, Little Dutch Doll and Overall Boy variant pattern, green cotton checked backing. 64" x 82 1/2". Circa 1940. 5th item: East TN pieced cotton quilt, Windmill pattern variant, peach fabric diamonds, white windmills and large white blocks. Cream border and backing. 75" x 58". Early 20th century. 6th item: American white crochet bed covering, hand-knotted floral circles. 64" x 70". Mid 20th century. Provenance: Passed through the family of Elizabeth T. Russell of Claiborne County, TN to Robert Edward Lee and Hattie Russell to Robert Edward Lee, Jr. of Knoxville, TN. CONDITION: 1st item: Fraying at top and bottom edges. Small areas of corrosion to red fabric. 2nd item: Good condition with some edge wear, small tears and seam separations, fading and one stain on back. 3rd item: Good condition with fading, slight binding wear. Some wear and small stain to front. Two small tears and large water stain to back that does not show on front. 4th item: Good condition with some edge wear, one tear and fading on front, one small stain on back. 5th item: Fading to front and minor staining to back. 6th item: Very good condition.
