European oil on canvas depicting a Paris apartment interior, signed lower left Heinrich XXXIII Reuss (German, 1879-1942). Housed in a molded gilt, gesso and wood frame. Sight: 14 3/8" H x 17 1/2" W. Framed: 20 1/4" H x 23 3/8" W. 1st half 20th century. Biography: Prince Heinrich XXXIII Reuss was the son of the Prince Heinrich VII Reuss of Kstritz and Princess Marie Alexandrine of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach. He was trained as a doctor and entered the army, taking a commission in the 2nd Dragoon Guards. Afterwards he served in the diplomatic service at the Berlin Foreign Office and as a member of the German Embassy in Paris. He was also a noted sculptor and painter. Condition: Scattered wear/losses to frame. Some light cracquelure to canvas. Canvas overall excellent condition.
