Chinese watercolor on paper scroll painting mounted on silk backing, depicting a woman seen from inside a window, while outside a young woman sweeps the ground with a broom. Poem or inscription upper left corner. Old label on back reads "No. 5: 'Snow Sweeping' by Li Sze; A noble lady not wishing her footprints to be seen in the snow, directs her maid to sweep them off from the snow." 68-1/2" x 15". Detached silk embroidered toggle adorned with fish and Chinese characters. Circa 1900. Condition: 6" tear to upper border and a 6" tear to lower border; side borders have scattered tears, most 1" or smaller, but one tear does extend 1/2" into image and there is a 1" chip to the lower right side. Scattered water spots or very light stains to image itself, the largest being about 4" wide in the sky area near inscription. Toggle has a missing tassel.
