Naive portrait of Robert E. Lee in uniform, said to have been painted during the Civil War by a soldier on tent canvas (likely from a photograph). Signed at left "Dorede" or "Dorode". Provenance: An East Tennessee estate, by oral history a gift from Tennessee representative Carroll Reece. Later walnut frame. 24" x 19" sight, 28" x 23" framed. Condition: Recently cleaned and relined with some inpainting.
