Two (2) German wheel toys, folk art portrait and Burke candle mold, 4 items total. 1st item: German horse pull toy, burlap base with brown wool felt, leather ears, glass eyes, horse-hair tail and mane, leather saddle, on separate fitted wooden paint decorated platform with metal wheels. 15-1/4″ H overall x 14-1/2″ W overall x 4-1/2″ D. Late 19th century. 2nd item: German child’s stuffed bear pull toy with metal wheels, 9-3/4″ H x 11-1/2″ W x 4″ D. Late 19th century. 3rd item: Mid 19th century folk art portrait, oil on tin, depicting a dark haired older woman wearing a white bonnet with lace collar, pink bow, and black dress. Ebonized frame with gilt rabbet edge. Sight – 14 1/2″ H x 12″ W. Framed – 18 5/8″ H x 16 1/2″ W. 4th item: John J. Burke cast iron candle mold in the shape of a teddy bear. Mold is two pieces with 35 vent holes, top plate, two legs and handle, right side of bottom plate. Embossed “John J Burke 89 Lake St Chicago”, lower right of top plate. 1 1/2″ H x 9″ W x 4 1/8″ D. Early 20th century. Estate of J.D. and Jane Vandercook, Hendersonville, TN. CONDITION: 1st item: Scattered areas of wear to felt, approximately 15. Some loss of hair to mane and tail. Minor abrasions to paint decorated nostrils. 2nd item: Loss of most of felt nose. Possible losses to left ear. Areas of wear of fur to base fabric. Both front bear feet with tears. Loss of gilt on all wheels. 3rd item: Scattered tiny flakes, mostly to right side of background, face in good condition. Minor loss to lower right inner edge of frame. 4th item: Areas of rust, primarily outside and inside of top plate and inside of bottom plate.
