Large Chinese Ming Dynasty style cobalt blue glaze planter or jardiniere, also known as a bulb bowl, hexagonal footed form with raised fret and geometric designs to exterior and unglazed interior. Stamped Chinese character mark to interior. Republic Period. 14" diameter, 6-1/4"H. Provenance: consignor purchased in China circa 1950. Condition: Wear and minute chips to exterior edges, 3/4" glaze pop or repaired chip to exterior edge, some interior stains, loss to one foot, scattered small glaze pops and fizzures, scratch or hairline at center hole (does not extend all the way through to exterior); allover light craquelure.
