A Philadelphia miniature portrait of a gentleman, watercolor on ivory, housed in a 14K gold-filled oval locket, back of card with illegible pencil inscription reading "—————— Philadelphia. " Braided locket of hair in hair reserve. Possibly a mourning miniature. Rear of gold case monogrammed "F.A.L. to M.R.T. Oct 1, 1840". Stored in the original leather hinged case. Miniature measures 3 1/2" H x 2 1/4" W. Case measures 4 3/8" H x 3 3/8" W. Condition: Scuffs, fading and light stains to case. Portrait in excellent condition. Gold filled case with very slight wear to seam.
