Oval gilt bronze box with hinged top. Acanthus leaf and egg and dart design on the sides, a blue enameled top with applied gilt bronze classical decoration, framing a watercolor on ivory (or simulated ivory) portrait of a lady in 18thcentury dress, hat and pearls (under glass). Portrait signed lower right "Nived." Velvet lined interior. Condition: some wear to bottom, otherwise excellent condition. 1" x 3 5/8" x 2 3/4". French, circa 1900. Mitchell estate,Nashville TN.
