George Mallonee earned a MFA from Yale University Drama School and spent the rest of his adult life working in theatre. His credits as a producer, stage manager and director ranged from Broadway, off-Broadway, and television, to regional theaters across the country. Historical pieces were among his favorites: he worked as producer and production manager for The Play of Daniel for the New York Pro Musica, and was managing producer of The Lost Colony in Manteo, N.C. and Wilderness Road in Berea, Ky. His career eventually brought him to Nashville, where he spent many years working for Opryland. Mallonee’s passion for the theater was rivaled only by his love for fine art and porcelain, and several prized items from his collection are featured in this sale (courtesy of Sarah Campbell Drury).
